Summer in Amsterdam has finally started.. So we must fully enjoy this wonderful weather! Here are a couple of terraces alongside the cooling water and therefore easily accessible by boat.
My favorites are:
1. IJ-kantine, MT. Ondinaweg 15: Cross the IJ river with the ferry (5 mins) and you’ll have a great view sitting at IJ-kantine. They have a big terrace with a great view, lovely food & friendly staff.
2. Hanneke’s Boom, Dijksgracht 4: Large terrace overlooking the water and NEMO museum. You can chill on their pier, eat fair-trade food and watch the boats go by. Read my blog about Hanneke’s Boom here (written in Dutch).
3. Cafe Hesp, Weesperzijde 130: The terrace of Cafe Hesp is overlooking the broad Amstel river. It is lovely! We stay in our boat and buy juices, sandwiches, salads, hamburgers, bitterballen, fries and drinks @Hesp To Go which is across the street from the cafe.
4. Amsterdam Roest, Czaar Peterstraat 213: This city beach accomodates a lot of people, from arty farty to students and families. Enjoy the sun, sand & the atmosphere! Roest organizes a lot of events too. Like Trailer Trash & Healthy Hippy and the water gun fight this Wednesday at 6pm..
Enjoy the beautiful weather.. Michelle
