The first of hopefully many Instameets! Together with 10 ladies who all love food, art, design and photography, we explored Amsterdam’s 9 streets, Jordaan area and Prinseneiland and visited 3 of our favorite hotspots. During this day we got the chance to get to know each other in a different way and explore the city.
Because this is also the way my Instagram friend Marieke Verdenius, editor of Jamie Oliver Magazine, and I met, we wanted to meet more Instagram friends and organized this day for Cecilia of Copenhagen Cakes, Maaike of My Deer (Artshop), Danique van Kesteren of 88forever, Anja, Sibylle, Marlous of Last Days of Spring, Ellen of Made by Ellen, Margot of The Makers Amsterdam and Judith of Veggie Proof.
Thank you all for joining us!
1ST STOP: MARIE-STELLA-MARIS
We started our day with coffee, chats and croissants at water and beauty brand MARIE-STELLA-MARIS. As a total HOTspot, we couldn’t start somewhere else! Emiel Gerardu of MARIE-STELLA-MARIS explained us about the brand concept. So cool to see and hear someone talking so passionately about his work. And all the girls got a beauty treatment with MARIE-STELLA-MARIS products. We loved it!
2ND STOP: STACH FOOD
After a lovely sunny walk from MARIE-STELLA-MARIS via the Noordermarkt, we took place at STACH FOOD where owner Stach was waiting for us with a ice cold BELVOIR drink and delicious lunch of salads and sandwiches. He told us about his concept, about how it evolved to what it is now and how he trains his employees. A sneak peek into his kitchen and talked about his design, the future of STACH and food trends.
3RD STOP: WORST WIJNCAFÉ
Last but definitely not least: we walked through the “picturesque” streets of Prinseneiland – a much forgotten part of Amsterdam which is really worth your visit! And off to drink some wines at WORST WIJNCAFÉ where chef Kees Elfrink, owner of RESTAURANT MARIUS as well, provided us with a delicious cider, white wine and snacks on his terrace. And of course a lovely speech of how RESTAURANT MARIUS and WORST WIJNCAFÉ came to live. He introduced the wine bar as the worst wine bar in Amsterdam. But actually being a wine and charcuterie bar. Worst means charcuterie in Dutch.
We especially enjoyed our guests, all their wonderful Instagram posts with hashtag Minimeet, the hotspots that made it possible to do this, our city and of course the fabulous messages afterwards of how everybody enjoyed herself!
