This week’s Tuesday 10 is about the best places to have lunch in Amsterdam. Amsterdam has so many great culinary spots that it’s difficult to make a selection of 10. So if your favorite spot isn’t on this list, add yours through a comment below. Here is our 10 Best Lunch Spots list:
SCANDINAVIAN EMBASSY is not only a great breakfast spot, it’s perfect for lunch as well! The ingredients used all have roots in Scandinavia but coming from wherever. From salmon to fermented herring, from ceviche to Danish cheese. All healthy and high quality.
CAFE LUXEMBOURG is my youth sentiment! I come here since I was 6 years old. And now I occasionally come here to eat HOLTKAMP croquetten with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, tea and nothing else. Oh yes and HOLTKAMP pie!
IL BASILICO of Italian Sabrina is my favorite trattoria to go to on a Saturday afternoon (with a slight hangover). She makes delicious panini’s (try the one with melanzane, salami and provolone) or a ravioli with pumpkin and a butter of sage and Parmesan cheese (maybe not that healthy, but soooo good!).
SMALL WORLD CATERING for to die for sandwiches that are so big. Food mess guaranteed! STORY154 favorites are chicken avocado or the meatloaf. Read our review about SMALL WORLD here >
BURGERLIJK AMSTERDAMS is a burger spot in the 9 Straatjes. Small and everything is homemade, even the truffle mayonnaise! We tasted these juicy fellows and boy those were yummeeee. Review online soon!
Ehm… If you want to eat a healthy lunch, check out this list >
BUFFET VAN ODETTE is also one of our favorite brunch spots. But if you are too late for brunch have lunch with French wine and enjoy the beautiful environment or sit outside on their terrace and let pleasure your tastebuds with their food. Read STORY154’s review about BUFFET here >
BAR BOCA’S in the Jordaan or PARK BOCA’S along the Sarphatipark in De Pijp. Both locations are perfect for a late lunch with bocadillo’s with Gouda matured cheese with whole grain mustard and Amsterdam onion, carpaccio of scallops, Jamon Serrano shavings and mayonnaise or a tasty hamburger with foie gras and truffle mayonnaise. STACH FOOD has multiple locations throughout Amsterdam and they make some killer sandwiches! Perfect for a quick take away lunch to eat when you are on your way to the next appointment or to eat behind your desk (I hate doing that but it happens.. sometimes).
CAFE RESTAURANT DE PLANTAGE is the newest kid in town within this list. Although I haven’t been here. This spot is high on my to visit list because I am dying to know how the interior and the monumental building looks like. Ok and the food of course ;)
WOLVENSTRAAT 23 is a funky cafe without a name. Locals name it ‘T WOLFJE or CAFÉ CAKE (name of the Foursquare check-in). You can relax here on a Saturday morning for coffee, enjoy a BLT for lunch and relax on one of the couches or hang at the bar.
Enough inspiration for lunch right?
