Ok, so I am no sucker for Valentine’s Day. But I do love romantic dinners! This week you read about
10 cool food places in Amsterdam that are just perfect for datenight: the first date of hopefully many or the 120th date, candle light dinners or cocktails in a cool bar, early breakfast or brunch with your single ladies. It’s all possible on Valentine’s day in Amsterdam! Or do you need a reason to go out?
Here’s STORY154’s top 10:
Balthazars Keuken for true candle light dinners with your loved one. No hassle on what to eat because the menu is fixed! Read STORY154’s review here >
Bar Americano for a cosy dinner with cocktails beforehand or afterwards. This restaurant is the best place to show your new outfit to that person you like so much. Great location for a late night stroll along the Amstel river. Read STORY154’s review here >
Caffe Toscanini’s kitchen table is absolutely and by far one of my favorite spots in this restaurant to have dinner at. With the view of the kitchen (squad) and seeing all the passion and energy put into one’s meal is just like watching a play. Just sit back and enjoy it!
De Kas serves a special Valentine’s fixed menu for you love birds. Do make a reservation and ask them to take place in the actual greenhouse. Enjoy a dinner with their own grown local and fresh ingredients!

Lion Noir is the kind of restaurant you want to take your date to when you really want to impress that special person. Their cocktail bar downstairs is ideal for drinks before having dinner upstairs. Oysters as an amuse-bouche, seafood with truffle gnocchi, chilled white wine, sweet dessert or a cheese platter. Or cocktails. Read my positive review about this lovely restaurant here >
At Le Coq sharing is caring! And the chef’s table seems like one where you want to sit down. Small dishes that are the ideal size to share. If you have someone who allows you to share with him/her. Or just order two instead because some dishes you don’t want to share. Believe me!
De Laatste Kruimel is a hidden gem and perfect for a early morning breakfast with your loved one or best friend. It’s a really low key hotspot in the city centre of Amsterdam with really good everything: From quiches to sweet pies, from real French croissants to scones. Read more about De Laatste Kruimel here >
The Breakfast Club is new, hip and happening and lies on a superduper cool location nearby the next tip I’ll give you. It’s überrelaxed and has a really good menu with American pancakes, smoothies, coffee and fresh OJ.
De Foodhallen is ideal for a first date! The both of you can decide what to eat separately or share some dishes which makes it absolutely more romantic. Grab a gintonic at the Gin & Tonic bar and walk towards your favorite food stand!
And while you’re head over heels buy your sweetheart and yourself a box of chocolates at Puccini Bomboni. You never know what you gonna get!
Happy Valentine’s!
XX, Michelle
