The biggest nautical event of Europe is about to happen in Amsterdam: SAIL 2015! During this happening the Jan Schaeferbrug opens for Tall Ships to enter the IJ harbor, the nautical heart of SAIL, from Wednesday 19 August till Sunday 23 August.
Pop Up Restaurant
The Schaeferbrug connects the Java island with the Piet Heinkade and during this event the bridge is the culinary heart of SAIL! All because L’invité le Restaurant – a quality restaurant in the Jordaan in Amsterdam – hosts a 5 day Pop Up. This is going to be the most spectacular spot to view the more than 600 ships passing through the North Sea Canal to dock in and around the IJ harbor!
During those 5 days of SAIL about 500 people can enjoy the experience of culinary dining and the excellent view! Chef Berend Sallows, an experienced chef who worked at Ciel Blue and Ron Blaauw, prepares French classic dishes with a modern twist. Everything is made from sustainable produced ingredients of great quality and where possible organic. Go for a delicious 3 or 5 course menu (€75 or €125) including a welcoming drink, wines, water, friandises and a digestif. Check the menus here.
During the Pop Up Chef Sallows serves a few of his signature dishes like a steak tartare with a foam of mustard and crispy beetroot and a plaice with smoke eel, fennel, green apple and yuzu. And if it’s any good? Yes it is! Story154 went to the preview tasting (check the video below – in Dutch) and I was longing for more!
Next to enjoying the delicious food of L’invité Le Restaurant, you can also enjoy a glass of champagne at the Champagne terrace, the sun and the view over the Tall Ships. Good job, l’invité! Buy your tickets here.
