Qurios – The Ultimate City Getaway

So every now and then, everyone needs a change of scenery. Us too. Due to private circumstances we’re unable to travel somewhere warm and tropical, so we searched for something closer to home. We didn’t expect to find something so close!

We had a holiday break at Holiday Retreat Qurios in Bloemendaal aan Zee. This is approx. a 30 minute drive from Amsterdam. With more than 100 holiday homes, it has the atmosphere of a small village with a super good location: a few minutes from the dunes and the beach with places like Rapa Nui, De Republiek and George 5. Plus it’s nearby Zandvoort and my all-time favorite beach houses Ubuntu and Tijn! And nearby Overveen where you can enjoy a steak from Loetje or a burger at Stach’s. Oh and Haarlem, where I discovered these spots!

Holiday Home
We settled at the luxurious Qurios Family Sea House for 1,5 week with our 8 month year old daughter Tess and our Vizsla Sofie. This house has room for 4 adults and 2 children. You enter the living and open kitchen with on both sides the bedrooms for two and a good bathroom with big shower. Via a ladder you’ll find the other two beds (suitable for young kids/adults). The spacious living room has a comfortable seating and all rooms have a flatscreen TV (which isn’t necessary at all according to me). There is free wifi which was a big plus for us entrepreneurs.

The Kitchen
I love to cook. Though hate it when I have to search for every kitchen utensil in a different kitchen. The kitchen is spacious enough to cook for a large group and has everything, except for the Nespresso Aerocino which I brought myself. I just love waking up with a cappuccino!
Qurios also has a restaurant and a terrace where you can enjoy lunch, drinks, bites and dinner. They also have take away. Though I’m used to La Perla and their pizza’s are ok and don’t succeed like La Perla does. The burgers are also do-able. Unfortunately not the entire restaurant menu is take away. Alas, no fish and chicken satay for us – only pizza and burgers.

Another Big Plus..
is the porch of Qurios homes. This is something we miss in Amsterdam! Open the big glass doors and feel the fresh summer breeze and the sun on your skin. Waking up on the terrace with the sun on my face, sand between my toes and a coffee in my hand is just wonderful. I want this house for my own!
