Here is a new interpretation of our highly successful 10 Best lists: The 10 favorite restaurants of a local chef! Or in this case two chefs: Guillaume de Beer and Freek van Noortwijk are the chefs of Restaurant Daalder.
A turn off the beaten path to discover where chefs love to eat and why is important because they look at the food on an entirely different way: Guillaume has worked at numerous restaurants in Amsterdam like Bord’eau, De Kersentuin and worked together with Freek at Envy. Izakaya Asian Kitchen & Bar is the place to be for a magnificent Asian evening with beautiful dishes. They use quality produce and everything has a great flavor. Read STORY154’s blogpost about Izakaya here >
At Bord’eau in Hotel de l’Europe Guillaume learned the most while working here for quite some time. Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot cook a modern French cuisine with respect for seasonal and especially fine ingredients. This restaurant is really worth 3 Michelin stars!
Café Restaurant Amsterdam is one of our favorite restaurants because it has really good food, it’s situated inside a monumental building and it’s just a fantastic brasserie! Perfect to enjoy great (sea)food with a big group of friends. Read STORY154’s review about this restaurant here >
En Pluche where Koen Marees is the master chef and he prepares fantastic small dishes on two induction plates! The textures and flavors are just lovely. I had a wonderful evening with super good food.
The chef of Envy, Michael Wolf, has a specific cooking style that’s very light and makes use of beautiful sour ingredients/flavours in the served dishes. We can sit here all evening and order the entire menu.
Worst Wijncafé has the ultimate comfort food! The fennel sausage, blood sausage, pied de cochon and the Breton cider are favorites of the chefs. Read STORY154’s review about Worst here >
Ron Gastrobar has a very unique food concept. Here you can enjoy ribs of star quality. We like this restaurant very much because it has a high level of comfort food.
De Gulle Waard in Winterswijk where Nel Schellekens cooks with products that normally aren’t used for consumption. Think about cockerels, young goats, geese from Schiphol. It’s one of the best dining experiences of Guillaume ever! He cried a little so good..
At Lastage we can order every dish because it’s all so good! Also the wine paired with the served food, just sit back and enjoy it all. And: A very good value for money!
Johannes is one of Guillaume’s and Freek’s favorite restaurants because chef Tommy den Hartog and his kitchen squad cook on star level. They serve you fun dishes with beautiful balanced flavors like a yellowfin tuna with wakamé, avocado and radish. The ambiance is very nice and it’s perfect for a night out!
Soon Guillaume and Freek will open their newest project Guts & Glory along the Utrechtsestraat, next to Sla. Now they are busy finalizing everything: “We are very excited to take on this new project and serve everyone really good Bresse chicken”.
