You should know this little hidden gem, Dignita. Why? Because it is green, peaceful and situated behind The Hermitage Museum. Oh and the menu is very inviting.
The restaurant is based in an oase of peace, behind the famous Hermitage Museum and the Amstel river. Hoftuin is the venue’s big and green garden: perfect for having breakfast, brunch or lunch outside. Perfect city getaway in Summer!
This go-to café made a menu based on their philosophy to hand craft every menu item from scratch using free range and locally sourced ingredients. They have something for everyone: granola with greek or cocos yoghurt, blueberry & lemoncurd pancake stack, smashed avocado on homemade nut and seed bread, vegan salad Buddha bowl, homemade soup or a Benny Boy (free range poached eggs). For the little ones you order a pancake with fruit, a poached or fried egg or one of their delicious cakes ;-)
There’s not one Dignita, but two! You’ll find them at the Hoftuin in the city centre in the direction of the East of Amsterdam and at the Vondelpark in the South of Amsterdam. See the addresses below this article.
For us this is a great place to meet friends who have kids as well. Our two-year-old wants to play and run while we chat over coffee, cake and some of the delicious dishes. We haven’t tested the garden yet.. That won’t take long though ;-)
Have a great day!
Xx, Michelle
