Los Pilones
We always passed by this small restaurant while walking through the Jordaan area. This Mexican restaurant, Los Pilones, has three locations: Nieuwmarkt, Jordaan area & nearby Leidseplein.
You truly think you are in Mexico. Actually I have never been to that part of the world, but I think it looks like Los Pilones: friendly people, good cocktails, great music, good entourage and, of course, delicious food. The salsas on the table and the peppers they use in the kitchen are also for sale under their own brand name, Los Pilones.
We decided to grab a quick bite on a Friday evening and started with some tortilla chips with a delicious spicy quacemole. Other yummy appetizers are quesadillas, nachos pilones & tostadas de pollo. As a main course you can decide between a lot of great dishes like tacos, enchiladas verdes, pollo con mole. Check the menu on their website!
We decided to go with the four tacos one with tender chicken, melted cheese, salad & sour cream and one with bacon, diced bell pepper, onion, melted cheese and chicken (€15). With this dish you can choose between beef, pork, chicken, tuna, cod, prawns & vegetarian. You can also choose a side dish: salad, black beans or rice. I wanted the extra sour cream ;) These small tacos are deliciously fresh & thin with some well flavoured & really tender chicken, some spicy quacemole and enjoy!
We would recommend this Mexican restaurant to friends as it has great service & the quality of the food was really good. We definitely come back to Los Pilones!
