Juice & Salad Café

Open for one year already: Juice & Salad Cafe! This healthy hotspot is located alongside the busy Vijzelstraat in Amsterdam. It is an oasis of slowly grown and carefully selected veggies which make a delicious salad and ripe fruits blended into tasty smoothies.
The quality of the products is partly because one of the founders Michiel is full time farmer in Wageningen. The food from his farm goes immediately to the shop on the Vijzelstraat. How local can you get it? This story behind the salad bar really amazed me!

It’s a real hype in our city: everyone wants to stay and eat healthy ecological food! Juice and Salad Café is just the place for it.

The juices and salads are divided in the continents of the world: Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Australia. You can also create your own salad or juice. Or be like me and select one of the tasty varieties they set out: I went for the South American juice and the South American salad with lettuce, chicken, feta cheese, spring onions, black olives, cherry tomatoes, avocado and a home made mustard lemon vinaigrette. Another salad we tried was the North American one, also known as a Ceasar Salad with Romaine lettuce, chicken, croutons, Parmesan cheese and Caesar vinaigrette. Both salads were full of flavour, in the right proportion and… served with a spoon! I always eat salad with a spoon: I don’t like messing around with a fork.

Juice and Salad Cafe is a small place with a few places to sit and a very relaxed atmosphere. Definitely one to visit!
