SPOTTED: SCANDINAVIAN EMBASSY
“One cappuccino please! Can I have a bit of sugar with that? No.” My first experience with SCANDINAVIAN EMBASSY, a ‘pijpenlade’ (small narrow spot) in de Pijp. So if you like quality coffee, you should visit SE!
Argentino Nicolas Castagno is the coffee master here. He won the Swedish Brewer’s Cup in 2013. And what a coffee he makes! That taste.. No sugar needs to be added!
You can try all kinds of blends! Viktor told me that the best milk would be milk straight from the farmer. Unfortunately this is illegal in The Netherlands. You won’t know what you’ll taste, it’s heaven.
On the menu you find various Scandinavian dishes like gravad lax (very good!), a beef stew, eggs, eggs and eggs or salt smoked Scandinavian wild. Also a recommendation is granny’s tea made of elderflower, apple, cinnamon, pear and cardamom or the fresh ginger tea. All organic, home made and fresh!
The interior is truly Scandinavian: simple, natural materials and industrial because of the unfinished edges. It could have a bit more feminine touch, but the coffee and their devoted dachshund make up for it! Big time.XX, Michelle
