Luckily a hotspot doesn’t have to be new to be featured on STORY154.com. BALTHAZAR’S KEUKEN is around for some time now and has a successful formula: a fixed three course dinner for €30 per person.
Our weekly menu consisted of five amuses with escargots and sage (not really my thing), smoked white fish with abricot and chili, anjovis with harissa sauce, crudité of carrot and truffle and a brioche with duck, red onions and garlic gravy. All served with freshly baked bread. As a main you can choose between fish and meat: Swordfish served with gruyere risotto and a bouillabaise was very good. Or go for the rib eye, lentils and mushrooms with a mustard sauce. As dessert chocolate mousse with ginger and lemon cream and a marinated fig.
This former blacksmith along the Elandsgracht is petite, tasty and authentic. You won’t find a lot of these restaurants in Amsterdam. And when you enter you understand why they have two shifts per night (one at 18.00 hrs, the other at 21.00). This living room restaurant is very popular amongst locals, perfect for a date or to celebrate something with a group of friends. Reservation is recommended!
This one is a keeper. A restaurant you can always visit!
