BAUT Amsterdam

This pop up restaurant is one of the best of Amsterdam! Its name? BAUT, after the street they are in. Michelin Star Chef Michiel van der Eerde opened his culinary heaven in October 2013 and is here to stay for another 100 days!

BAUT recommends about 2 to 3 dishes per person because the size of the dishes are between a starter and a course in-between. So it’s really suitable for shared dining. But not the steak tartare!

This dish is an absolute pleasure for your mouth! The French steak tartare of beef is tender and well seasoned. The combination with garden cress, a half hard boiled egg, bacon mayonnaise and the garlic crostini is perfect. You want to order another one, believe me.

BAUT’s international cuisine takes you to France, Italy, The Netherlands or Asia. The French tournedos rossini with duck liver, red port gravy and truffle was a winner as well, just like the Italian risotto with scallops, fresh peas, pancetta and Parmesan cheese. These fresh peas gave the risotto not only colour, also a lovely fresh taste and crisp. The peas accompanied the crunchy and soft fillet of plaice as well, together with a sweet carrot cream and lemon beurre blanc. Another lovely combination of which I could have eaten more! The combinations that the chef puts on your plate are just magnificent. It surprises your tastebuds over and over again and wants you to eat more and more of the same.
