Café Restaurant De Plantage

I am in love with this new restaurant in Amsterdam: CAFE RESTAURANT DE PLANTAGE. Not only is the location next to Amsterdam’s Zoo Artis magnificent, the wide square in the back overlooking the flamingo’s reminds me of parks in Paris so widespread and with the lovely benches.

The interior
The restaurant itself reminds me of CAFE RESTAURANT AMSTERDAM maybe because it’s from the same owner: The restaurant is huge but gezellig -cosy- as we Dutchies say.
I love the combination of the old building with the new and modern interior: tones of grey, green and the bricks go well together with the black seating, marble tables and beautiful wooden floor.

The food
Starting with an Italian prosecco from the Treviso region, we got ourselves settled in. The friendly and attentive staff served us smoked salmon with roasted chioggia beet, cream of chives and herring roe and the poached eggs and sauteed wild spinach and sauce Mornay were both very tasty and well combined. The HOLY RAVIOLI with boar ragoût, sage butter, Parmesan and black pepper was a popular dish at this table and was delicious! Just like the bavette served with haricots verts, potatoes, roasted shallots and beurre de Montpellier (an herbal butter made with tarragon, parsley and chervil).

Do want to visit DE PLANTAGE as well? Make a reservation! The restaurant is too popular to walk in and be seated. You don’t want to leave with an empty stomach!
