This restaurant is little Portugal along the Amstel river. And when I was asked to join for a special bloggers lunch by the beautiful Kae Sutherland of FoodNerdz at Restaurant Girassol I didn’t have to think for a minute. This girl has an eye for terrific food spots, so we speak the same language. It was going to be a food loving afternoon with a bunch of other bloggers!
Although I visit their neighbours Hesp a lot because it’s a great spot to park our boat and hang out alongside the water, I never walked a few steps further. I should have! Restaurant Girassol has an amazing terrace with sand on the ground. A beach feel in Amsterdam!
The Food
All the food – and it was a LOT – was very good! From salads during a warm summer lunch with a glass of Portugese wine to a chicken avocado tosti or a Girassol burger. If you come at the end of the day, this spot has many bites to choose from: olives, bread, Mediterranean charcuterie and cheese, nuts, fritos de Lisboa, sardines, gambas and much more. When you want to enjoy two worlds: the view of the Amstel river in Amsterdam and Portugese food then you should definitely take a seat at Restaurant Girassol’s terrace!
